School Supply Drive

In August we held a school supply giveaway at our office. It was our first time to do it and it was a huge success. We collected donations of supplies from businesses and individuals. We had hot dogs provided by Hornback's Restaurant which is next door to our office. The radio station was there with a 3 hour live remote and we had a Farmers claim vehicle to attract attention. The first picture is of people starting to line up about an hour before we started. The Second picture is obviously the Farmers claims vehicle. I saved the best picture for last...my Mom Juanita, myself and our assistant Barbara.

Our biggest donor was Just Between Friends Sale of Muskogee. If you haven't heard of JBF you should check out their website at jbfsale.com . They have consignment sales all over the U.S.

On that Saturday in the 3 hour time frame we had we estimated we gave out about 900 bags of school supplies. Over the next 2 weeks we probably gave out another 200 to 300 more and donated supplies to schools as well. It was a great feeling to know we helped so many kids and parents. We plan to do it again every year. In fact we better get started now because it was a lot of hard work ;-)

Jessica

Jessica is the baby of the family. She turned 6 in January. Here are some pictures of her from last summers vacation at Six Flags. She loves getting her picture made!!

She has extremely curly hair, which she got from Grandma Ruth. She looks so much like Ruth did when she was a child. It really fits that we gave her the middle name Ruth.

JANA

Here are a couple pictures of Jana from our summer vacation. We went to Holly Lake Ranch, TX. The kids played ping pong some but it was too hot to chase the ball around. The resort had a very nice activity center where you could play video games, watch movies, play board games, do crafts, get food and do lots of other fun things. It was a great place to visit.

JASON

A month or so ago Aunt Janice was visiting from Arkansas. Jason was being silly so she got out the camera. He cut off the sleeves of his under armour shirt because they were ripped and made a head scarf out of one of them. After playing with the permanent marker he looks like quite the muscle man. He is really only 12 but he looks so much older with the mustache. I am also attaching a picture of the "real" Jason taken on vacation in texas this summer. He is such a cutie!!

MY SURPRISE FOR JOHN

Last weekend was Labor Day weekend so John had 4 days off work. I surprised him by making reservations at a resort on Grand Lake. I made arrangements for his sisters to come and stay with Jessica (Jason and Jana were with their Dad). John thought we were going to my Aunt Janice's house in Arkansas up until the minute we were leaving. We started to go to the car and he told Jessica to come on. She said she wasn't going. He was totally confused.

We got there late on Friday night. The resort was beautiful.

On Saturday we went to a few antique shops which we never do with the kids. I found some bowls to add to my collection. We also went to Har-Ber Village and it was so neat. It is a museum type village with 115 little buildings. Each building is like a log cabin and displays things from long ago. I think my favorite was the Doctors house. It had some really pretty furniture and quilts. We want to go back when it isn't so hot. Saturday night we went out for a nice dinner and came back and watched a movie.

On Sunday we had a mini family reunion. John's sisters came with Jessica so we weren't without children the entire weekend. We had two three bedroom units that night and had a full house in both. My brother fried some fish and I made grilled burgers.

We came home on Monday since I had to work on Tuesday. It was a great weekend. It was so awesome to be able to surprise John. He does so much for me that I wanted to do something for him this time.

Of course we forgot to take a camera so we have no pictures. I will post pics of my new bowls later.

MY FIRST BLOG!!

Being the good mother I am I guess my first post should have something to do with my kiddos.

Recently Little John was in from the Navy. He got to come to Jason's football game in Owasso and then spent the rest of the weekend with us. My sister-in-law, Nancy, came over and took some pics of all of us. It was really hard to get a good shot of all of us together but after much cheesing we got a few good ones.

Here we are!! My beautiful family!!
